“There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.”
I love the image you chose for this post. As I think about it, I sense life is like a magical kaleidoscope. I intuit through the fragments that continually change their colorful, symmetrical forms. Life experience offers its own mysterious patterns of shapes and colors. Our visions change with us, based on what we choose to see. We sense what we're ready for.
I absolutely love the image you have chosen to start this blog. After thinking about my view of the world, I sense its kind of like a kaleidoscope. I view my experiences as fragemented images that are all interconnected and constantly changing. These perceptions shape me with their own unique shapes and colors. This analogy reminds me I create the way I choose to see the world. It can seem symmetrical or not, but that doesn't matter. In my mind, I sense nothing but uplifting miracles waiting to be deciphered. This world is truly amazing!
Liara, I think we all feel like we're in perpetual fragmentation until we find the connection that our Soul desires. The connection of life and spirit and everything in between. We each see the world through our own lens and as Ms Nin would say, "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."
The world is truly amazing and you are one amazing Soul.
Thanks for re-commenting on this post and adding your insightful experience.
I actually think we all get glimpses through instant illumination. These glimpses are each whole and complete but we need successive developments of them - a constant montage - to leave the print of Truth embedded a little more deeply each time. I think WE look at these glimpses and see them as fragments because we can't possibly remember nor comprehend the intensity, the magnitude, the extraordinariness in the pure and grand simplicity of their nature. We build a mosaic with what we perceive as fragments - pieces of a puzzle - when in fact the puzzle is complete, and always has been and always will be. In other words; our inability to fully absorb, understand and SEE the Truth illuminated is the obstruction. Our limited perception and filtered receptors break down the wholeness of Truth revealed into tiny bite-size pieces. We are sitting before a banquet but our starved souls can only manage to eat a few crumbs. Those my thoughts, anyway. I love the mosaic - the photo! Did you capture it?
This poem - and also pythia3's comment - really resonate with me. I think people do receive such instant illumination, but it's usually a fleeting thing, a kind of glimpse of what is to come. Then the awakening comes upon us slowly. There is a very good practical reason for this: to allow us to carry on coping with the world while it's happening. If it all happens at once, as it did with Eckhart Tolle, you send up spending several years just sitting on a park bench like he did!
Lindy, I agree. You have summarized it very elegantly. Thank you. Those little vignettes that play before our eyes are so precious that some of us overlook them. Though they show seismic activity, we still ignore them, until the earthquake comes and we wonder what happened?
Each moment of our life shows truth measured by our ability to perceive.
Thanks for your thorough comments. As far as the photo, I did capture it with my computer, but not my camera. Isn't it ethereal?
Simon, We live in an instant gratification world. We want it all now, but the truth is if we got full illumination in this instant, it would kill us - - or just make us crazy.
Slow and steady wins the race. Soul is in no hurry.
Mosaic: great title! Anaïs is so right: not everybody receives the truth by illumination, nor everybody is born with it. Most acquires it by reading life's book!
The truth is out there, however it takes differents forms (yet keeping its essence). It is out there (in fact it is right around the corner) yet it is hard to attain, and because it is difficult to take hold people are discouraged to look for it. Now, one could ask "But if it is just around the corner, how come it is hard to attain?" I'd reply «It is hard to grab cause people do not allow their minds to see it; they choose to be blind. But after going through suffering, pounding their heads on the wall, aggravating themselves...then yes, they will allow their eyes and soul to see!»
Master Alexys, brilliant selection of words *bowing*!
Max, I have a special fondness for Ms. Nin. She seems to capture the true essence of life and love.
"Most acquires it by reading life's book!" Beautiful.

They are more resigned to think happiness is wrapped in possessions rather than possessing the true essence within. They are blinded by their unwillingness to see.
"...after going through suffering, pounding their heads on the wall, aggravating themselves...then yes, they will allow their eyes and soul to see!"
Wonderful stuff. Did you know that you can burn 150 calories from banging your head against the wall? Funny. I don't know who did the research for that one.

"I have a special fondness for Ms. Nin. She seems to capture the true essence of life and love." - indeed she does; she was a quite sensitive soul...

"Wonderful stuff. Did you know that you can burn 150 calories from banging your head against the wall? Funny. Cause by banging the head against the wall, not only you burn the calories but you also get a terrible headache *nodding*. Who does this type of research?
"I am humbled by those words my dear. Thank you." - you are most welcome, dear *bowing*!
"I'd rather burn 150 calories writing. ;D" - LOL it is a nice way of burning calories, indeed!
"Banging my head will upset my brain. I don't know who did the initial research. Maybe a heavy metal head banger?" - I hear you. LOL most certainly a heavy metal head banger lol *nodding*...

Beautiful!
And it is within that deep cellular acquisition of truth...that we learn at last to see what has always been before us.
Sending you sweet peace on the winds,
M
Maithri,
And when we see what has always been before us, we are amazed at how we could have missed it in the first place?
Once we do realize it, the rest is as we say, gravy.
Feeling the peace that you've sent and returning it to sender with love. :D
