How Dreams Speak

If we pay attention to our dreams, they speak to us. Actually, they speak to us even when we don’t pay attention, it’s just the way they are. They like to talk, in fact they are quite gregarious companions. They also have stunning showmanship.
They can demonstrate different states of awareness with cinematic precision and give us hours of amusement, confusion and mystery. They also hang us from the highest cliffs and suspend our disbelief.
It’s important to pay attention to dreaming because it can be the blueprint to living.
Elias Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine tried for months to think of a way to attach the thread to the needle. One night he dreamt he was being attacked by a group of natives who challenged him to invent the sewing machine or die. He noticed in his dream that the tip of their spears had a hole in it. He woke up and decided that was how the thread was going to be attached to the needle - the rest, as they say, is history.
While many dreams may not be as clear cut as the one above, they still leave us clues as to how to navigate our path in life. If we want more control of dreams, we can have it.
If you want to go to an exotic place where you’ve never been, just order it. Tell yourself before you go to sleep. For instance, if you want to dream of Egypt, just say before you drift off, “I want to dream of Egypt.”
I can only speak with authority on this because I have done it myself and I have traveled all over the inner and outer worlds. If I were to gain frequent flyer miles, they would be in the trillions.
Once you tap into your dream power, you can do anything, go anywhere, be anything. You can learn new things from cooking, learning a foreign language, something job related - anything.
All you have to do is relax. When you go to bed, take time to clear your mind of the daily debris that gathers. You can even do a five minute meditation.
There is a sweet spot in the night, the time when all noises are off. A time when the night speaks in sonnets and dulcet tones. A time not disturbed by the sounds of traffic, phones, children, construction workers, music, radios or televisions.
If you can tap into this spot before you fall asleep, you can tap into the essence of dreaming. You are surrendering to the universe and thus surrendering to opening your inner eyes.
Heed your dreams. Let them guide you into your inner life. Let them show you how you can enhance your life. Let them show you - you.

When I dream of something, I always consult my dream book, and sometimes the meaning of my dreams come true. And sometimes also, I dream of things that will happen to me in the near future. I'll know when an event happening to me is from my dream if it feels like "de javu".
Not only is this post psychologically helpful, you've also hit a few literary highs!!
~ Alex
Alexys, I've been able to do this since I was a child. I also replay some of the more interesting ones :) I only found out a few years ago that most people can't. I've tried to teach others the same way you describe but I also suggest that initially you try to doze when your conscious mind can override at first. I do this best in the car seat whilst waiting to pick up in my role as family taxi driver.
I do all my best thinking when I am asleep all problems are processed and whe I wake up I have the answer. That is why I have a pad and pen by my bed all the time.
Very nice. This is something that I have discovered myself.

Nepspeed,
Unfortunately dream books are so general that they don't ring true for many. Because everyone is an individual, it's hard to pinpoint it in just a book. That's why when we take full control of our dreams, they can mean something more significant.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing.
Alex,
Thanks for the always inspiring feedback.
Bag,
It is fun to replay the good dreams, they bring a sense of peace and joy.
Many people are closed to ever thinking that they can participate in their dreams and it is somewhat hard to teach those people. But if you explain your experiences, they may be more likely to try.
The magic of the night can wipe out the dread of any day.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Nathankp,
It's fun isn't it? Thank you for dropping by and adding to this stream.
You are so right about this. I often wonder if authors like Stephen King dream their next book? I have heard that musicians ande writers often dream their most creative work.
When my dad died recently, my greedy brother, tried to fake my father had much less in assets than he did. I dreamed the amount and was $4,000 off! Now that is amazing. I woke up and knew how much was in his account.
What an inspirational post! I love the image you incorporate. Many people underestimate the power and messages of dreams. We can all raise our awareness of what's possible, what's real and what awaits us when we determine our moods, energy levels and dissolve self-imposed limitations.
Beautiful Sweet Dreams* ;))

Amazing!
I have yet to master this feat though.
Your style of executing it is similar to how I control myself after consuming alcohol.
i.e. pre-program myself not to do this and that, must do this and that before consuming much alchohol etc
I shall give your method a try and see how it goes.
Thanks for sharing! :D
Uber,
Now that was a prophetic dream. Some theorists say that if you dream it, it has already happened in this life or another life. Stephen King must be full of nightmares. LOL.
Creative artists do tap into their source more readily than others, but I think we are all creative. It's just the matter of tapping it.
Btw, you should warn your brother than you know EXACTLY what he is doing. That will scare him. Ha ha.
Liara,
I think that all dreams are real on some level whether it's this life or a past life. We have lived it or are going to live it. Dreams can be a preview or review. They are vignettes of awareness.
Billy,
Thanks a trillion. I couldn't have dreamed it differently. :D
Tun Na,
It takes time to master it, but in the mean time, you can prepare for the bounty of your dreams by meditating and taking baby steps.
Thanks for sharing. Sweet dreams.
I already flayed him in court. :) He was 'dreaming' if he expected a different result haha
Uber,
I think you are probably like your brother's nightmare. ;D
Wow, there is an ethereal quality about these words my friend... a lightness.... a winged peace,
God bless the dreamers,
May we all realise the power that lies within that formless realm,
My deep love to you, M
Alexys, Explain my experiences.
Well, that is difficult. I usually try and set up some story before I go to sleep if I want to have a particular dream but most often I just let it run free.
When I try to tell others how to control them it is usually because they are having nightmares. I get them to visualise what they want in rl by relaxing and imagining then envisage it in the dreams when the nightmare start. Some never get it but some do.
I have some strange dreams and they cover a variety of topics from me exploring space to providing an unlimted food and power source to the world. (Still working that one out. It isn't going as well as I'd hoped)
There are other more interesting dreams but I think I will keep them to myself. It's perhaps best on your blog. :)
dreams are our wishes and wants and fears and hates and loves come to life as we rest our bodies. To learn them and interpet them is to walk through walls that keep so many others missing the reason we do dream. they are not fill ins for the rest but doorways into the start and middle and transfer into the next nexis.
You have great insight and wisdom is not borne from books but from life and its happenings. I enjoy and reccomend your writings to anyone that just wants to learn a little more about themselves. Splendid... Always, Darrel
Maithri,
The dreamers are all we have in life. They carve the destiny of the stars and take us along for the ride.
The power we harness is written in the heavens of our heart and Soul.
Love and peace to you too my friend.
Bag,
We can order the dream we want, but if there is something more pressing, then we will have a dream about that. Sometimes they are interwoven into the type of dream we want. I am generalizing because dreams are so individual.
It's good that you allow yours to run free. Nightmares are another story and from my experience, sometimes occur when we urgently need to pay attention to something we have been ignoring.
If you keep a dream journal, go back and read some dreams and perhaps you can see how they coincide with your outer life. Maybe you can write a book on your dreams????
Darrel,
So nice of you to drop in. Suffice it to say that dreams are all of those parts of us - which we embrace and dismiss. They encompass the mystery of our Soul and unravel the labyrinth of life.
Interpreting them is a task in itself that requires great effort and passion. I agree that learning them is walking through walls in a sense - the walls of self.
I am humbled by your generous words and happy that you have found a place to turn the pages of life. Thank you for adding great insight to this stream and I hope to see you again soon.
