Learning Wisdom

“Wisdom lies less in what we learn
and more in our reactions
to that learning;
less in the quantity
and more in the quality of
our knowledge;
less in the accumulation of facts
and nomenclature,
and more in knowledge of principles;
less in the possession of ideas
and more in the right
employment of them;
less in all that we gather
and must shed,
and more in what we assimilate
into the texture of that being
which is an immortal
reflection of the Soul.”

the more you assimilate the more you learn

These words are very powerful!

Thank you, Alexys...

The more I work to share the wisdom I've gained, the more I realize that my job will never end (I'll hopefully inspire others to take up the task...).

Human Inertia is the greatest Sin...

I think that this quote does a good job of defining the difference between knowledge and wisdom. It is one thing to know things, but it is yet another to truly understand them and to be able to apply what you know.

Magnificent words and a beautiful picture,

Dear friend you always find the right words for the right moment...

How u do dat? ;) ;)

I love what it says here about our reaction to the things we learn...

To acquire something, whether it be knowledge or anything else, with graciousness and love is the way to ensure that its gifts are reavealed to us in their entirety,

Sending you abundant bliss and laughing light to smile at your window,

Maithri

Robert,
So I have learned. :D

Alexys Fairfield 11/23/2008 11:36 PM

Alex,
Spoken like the wise Soul that you are.

Thanks.

Nathan,
It's the application that counts. We can paint a wall a thousand times, but if we don't apply the paint just right, it will never hold.

Maithri,

The right words seem to find their debut here. The magic of the words transcend the pages.

Acquiring love has its own wisdom to it. Everything else is icing on the cake.

My window is always open to you. Let us share knowledge wisdom and love with the world.

Much love.

Hi Annie,

Wisdom is immeasurable and imperceptible, yet innate and always accessible to every creature. You spark curiosity about this topic in that you encourage readers to explore their own assumptions.

Hi Uber,
Only the best for the best. :D

Hi Liara,
Wisdom is a beautiful thing and it is well worth the exploration.

Love this quote, that it matters not how much we know or accumulate but that we live deeply the essence of the gift of that knowledge and wisdom.
Happy Thanksgiving celebrations to you and your loved ones!

Alexys Fairfield 11/24/2008 9:23 PM

Miruh,
It's never about what we accumulate, but rather what we have that counts.

Thank you for your Thanksgiving wishes.

All the best to you and yours too. Even though you celebrate Thanksgiving at a different time, gratitude is still the same.

Thanks again my friend.
