A Lawyer's Karma

Though I speak about karma often, some people don’t believe in it because they don’t see the cause and the effect clearly. This story is for those who believe and those who don’t believe.
Karma is very exacting and whether it has been exacted in a way we see it, it is still being exacted the way it is executed, in other words - what goes around comes around.
Whatever we do is being recorded and has an effect somewhere in the universe. It behooves us to act from love, compassion, humility and contentment, not greed, ego, vanity, or attachment.
You can find out more about this universal law of karma here.
In 2003, a Charlotte, NC, lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars and insured them against fire among other things.
Within a month of having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.
In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires."
The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason; that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.
The lawyer then sued - - and won!
In delivering the ruling the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous.
The Judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be “unacceptable fire," and was obligated to pay the claim.
Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000.00 to the lawyer for his loss of the rare cigars lost in the "fires."
After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson.
With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000.00 fine
So you see, karma is watching our performance as we make a mark on the world.
What do you think?

THAT is hilarious!!!!!!
Sometimes we are so in sync, Pinky.
I was talking with my mum today about these very subjects- lawyers greed and karma.
I am going to link to this.
It's the best lawyer story I have ever heard! :)
Alexys,
I love it. I wished I could see karma in action like that every time !
I wonder if I've paid my karmic debts....
Hi Lauranimist,
Isn't it just?
Hi Colin,
Back at cha. :D
Hi Alex,
Ooh, that's sounds nice. I shall spend them wisely.
Thanks.
Hi Uber,
You are a colorful commentator. Aren't we always in sync?
Say Hi to your mum for me.
Link until your heart is content.
Hi Annie,
So do I.
We are all paying our karmic debt just by living. :D
Now that is justice. The Lawyer deserves that hefty fine and 2 years in jail!
Maybe he thought he could get away with it!
I believe in Karma.
What is especially remarkable about this story is the swift pace of legal action that took place. Karma works on its own schedule. The balance and imbalance of energy flow has nothing to do with human perception of time adn what shifts events. This story offers a lesson in energy medicine. That is, each energy being inevitabley gets a taste of the energy sent out.
Hi Half Crazy,
Isn't karma divine?
Hi Liara,
Exactly. I know karma is on it's own schedule. And people don't like when they get a taste of their own medicine.
Energy is exacting. :D
Each energy being is his own oracle. Whether he chooses to read his energy accurately is something else. Every being has foresight yet not every being chooses to be aware and use it effectively.
Hi Alexys,
I thought this was a joke but no!
It is this kind of unconscious greed that has the economy as it is, but isn't it interesting that we are all sharing in this karma. Perhaps we all have issues with greed to different degrees. :D
Hi Liara,
I like that each being is his own oracle. At all times, we have the keys to our happiness.
Hi Miruh,
That is a very good point - that we are all sharing the karma. Thank you for broaching the depth of the problem. We are all different degrees of karmic separation.
