Acts Of Kindness

An old man was walking along the beach with his grandson. His grandson picked up each starfish they passed and threw it back into the sea. "If I leave them up here," the boy said, "they would dry up and die. I'm saving their lives."
The old man explained, "The beach goes on for miles, and there are millions of starfish. What you are doing won't make any difference."
The boy looked at the starfish in his hand, gently threw it into the ocean, and answered, "It makes a difference to this one."

Every person makes a difference in the world in his or her individual ways. Nobody is better or worse than anybody else. We are all extensions of Source energy. Each person contributes to the big picture, how the energy expands or detracts. Every life matters.
Exactly! Everything we do matters.
Liara,
And every life has a purpose.
Felicitas,
Everything counts. :D
This is one of my favorite parables. Thanks for being a "life saver!" Hugs, L
Linda,
It's one of mine too. Powerful simplicity.
That really is beautiful, but I wonder how long it took the boy to grow into the old man?
Uber,
Great point. Hopefully the little boy grew into a beautiful loving man who found solace in cleaning the beach. ;D
