Instructions For Life

Though I didn’t write this, I thought it would make good reading. Simple truths are the best truths. They lay in our soul and squeeze us from the inside.
Which one speaks to you today?
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
Memorize your favorite poem.
Don't believe all you hear, or spend all you have, or loaf all you want.
When you say, "I love you," mean it.
When you say, "I'm sorry," mean it.
Believe in love at first sight.
Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
Love deeply and passionately.
Don't judge people by their relatives, or by the life they were born into.
Know that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
Call a relative. Let them know you care.
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
Follow the three R's: Respect for self, Respect for others, and Responsibility for your actions.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
When you realize you've made a mistake, take steps to correct it.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
Marry a person you love to talk to.
Spend some time alone.
Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Read more books. Television is no substitute.
Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
In disagreements with loved ones deal only with the current situation, don't bring up the past.
Listen to what someone is saying and listen to why they are saying it.
Pray or meditate. There's immeasurable power in it.
Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
Mind your own business.
Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. It is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
Live with the knowledge that your character is your destiny.

"Believe in love at first sight" spoke to me the most today, but
"Never interrupt when you are being flattered" is a lesson that I have been trying to learn for years.
Hi Lady A :D!
Hmm..let's see which sentences speak to me:
"Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice." - absolutely! Our voice a big time snitch LOL...
"Marry a person you love to talk to." - without a doubt! Otherwise, after a while, the marriage would become boring.
"Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer." - I couldn't agree more. The great king Solomon said that silence may avoid quarrels (at least unnecessary ones) - this is wisdom.
"Read more books. Television is no substitute." - I agree; but good television is also important (it is like dessert).
"Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time." - Hear, Hear!!
"In disagreements with loved ones deal only with the current situation, don't bring up the past." - HA! Never happens! People love bringing up the past (specially when it has nothing to do with the situation at hand) - bad timing for catharsis.
"Never interrupt when you are being flattered." - Indeed...we never know if we won't catch a traitor in the midst of flattery.
"Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other." - Amen for that!
Wonderful instructions to life...are you sure you didn't write them? ;)
Always Cherish Your Friendships Cheers
Great list. How does one choose?
What is YOUR favourite one Alexys?
No reason to apologize for you never do anything wrong. Right and wrong do not exist only inner judge which has yet to be dissolved in love and acceptance.
Hi Em,
Those two are very good and ones that we can all heed.
Hi Max,
You've picked good ones too. You're right, our voice is a big snitch. :D
Can you imagine all the people who don't marry someone they can talk to? Marriage is not a sentence.
"...good television is also important (it is like dessert)."
But finding good TV is difficult.
"People love bringing up the past (specially when it has nothing to do with the situation at hand) - bad timing for catharsis."
Bringing up the past is a deadly weapon.
"Wonderful instructions to life...are you sure you didn't write them? ;)"
I would never take credit for another writer, but they are good aren't they? I think we all write them as we live.

Hi Uber,
You can't answer a question with a question. Can you?
I like them all. Number's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.....
What about you?
Hi Liara,
I know what you mean on a profound spiritual level, but unfortunately for most people, it is best that they apologize because on a human level, right and wrong do exist.
Thanks for your view.
Hi Lady A,
"You've picked good ones too. You're right, our voice is a big snitch. :D"
Thanks ^5! lol..it is ;D...
"Can you imagine all the people who don't marry someone they can talk to? Marriage is not a sentence."
I can, and it is so sad *nodding*. Marriage should be a happy vessel (even when the waves of life make it rock).
"But finding good TV is difficult."
So very true, darling! I am getting very disappointed at TV nowadays (apart from the series, it all sucks).
"Bringing up the past is a deadly weapon."
Hear, Hear!
"I would never take credit for another writer, but they are good aren't they? I think we all write them as we live."
They are (you picked them well). You may be right, A...so right.
