The human mind is resilient and an amazing machine isn't it? It won't let us down. I agree that life is not easy, but it is certainly a journey with the sights and sounds of passion.

Soul discovery is life's biggest rewards and I salute those unsung heroes out there who never get their day in the sun. Those who work quietly in the corner making it a better place for everyone else.

Hi Alexys,
This is a powerful post. It highlights many of the economic catastrophes currently happening around the globe.

Yet at the same time it is a positive post. We are reminded that we can overcome anything if we only choose to do so.

Life is not easy. I do not believe that life was intended to be easy. We are hear on this plane at this time to learn.

And to learn we must be taught. How are we taught? There are many different methods of course but I am speaking of soul learning and character building.

For this we must have obstacles to overcome and rise above. Therefore, all through out history we can find millions and millions of stories to inspire us.

Some are famous such as the Priest you mention in this article and others are simple people who history will never remember and their tales never be heard.

Nonetheless they are soul survivors as well.

The dark side of human nature has been at one of it's highest periods for the last few decades. Greed and thought only for one's self has ruled.

And now we see the results. For those that have lived this life style I have pity. but, they now have their lesson to learn.

As for me and how I handle stress. I always cling to a simple prhase.

Humans are an intricate piece of work. We change, constrict and contrast all the time. We fill our heads with folly and follow the consequences blindly.

I love the term "Spiritual Security." I realize that some look at the shake up as a positive thing - the shaking off of the moss - but many are not strong enough to understand that interpretation. I agree with you that we have to rediscover the truth and hopefully we can regain some spiritual ground in the process.

Human beings often brainwash themselves. Security is not something you experience based on holding a paying job, having a predictable income or, being tied to a predictable pension. These are human interpretations of material or physical security. These visions actually distract you from the spiritual security you have always had and will always have. It is immeasurable, intangible and life-transforming. The recent shake-up of economic change in the physical world can be perceived as a positive thing. At times, people need to be shaken out of their mental state of complacency to begin to rediscover the truth has been hidden behind everything you thought mattered.

I love the beginning of "The Tale of Two Cities." It seems that everyone knows the beginning but I wonder how many people actually read the whole book.

As human beings, we are all a little affected by the current state of the world. Even though it may not touch us in our immediate personal lives, it ignites our compassion.

When the stock marlet crashed recently, the television news showed a young man who had just started at Merrill Lynch that day. He broke down in tears because he had prepared for his job all his life.

You are fortunate that you have a passion to keep your Soul occupied and cooking is a fantastic way to alleviate stress and share love at the same time. What a gift you have - except I don't know how you can cook on the internet? LOL.

I've been in voluntary unemployment for sometime now. So whatever happened in the real world did not affect me much.

Yes,I was really concerned with mates who are working in the financial industry or invest heavily in stocks. I couldn't stop bugging them to make sure they are all right. That's all I could do on my little part.

How do I handle stress?
I head straight to the kitchen. Bake bake bake or cook!!! Now I stick to internet!

What would I do if I was sacked?
Perhaps wallow in self-pity and start job searching!
